[What to Expect]

A Day Unlike Any Other in Liverpool

TEDxHope Street is a full day of talks, workshops and experiences, designed to leave you thinking differently about the things that matter most. Here is how the day works.

Talks Worth Your Time

Fifteen speakers and performers across four sessions. Each talk is coached and refined over months before it reaches the stage. Every one is worth being in the room for.

Workshops That Go Deeper

Three parallel workshops run throughout the day. Choose the one that calls to you and come away with something you didn't have when you walked in.

Spaces to Think and Connect

A Quiet Zone, a Connection Zone, a Wall of Hope and Conversation Cards. Room to reflect, to meet someone unexpected, and to leave something of yourself behind.

The Start of Something

The conversations that start at TEDxHope Street don't stop at the door. This is Year One of a five-year series. The people in that room are the beginning of something.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of discovering and spreading ideas, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxHope Street, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxHope Street event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

[The Series]

Year One of Five

TEDxHope Street is not a one-off event. Each year, a different venue on Hope Street. Each year, a different conversation. From The Everyman to the Royal Philharmonic Hall, from Unity Theatre to the city’s two Cathedrals. Five years. Five stages. One street. This is where it starts.

Yes. Speaker applications are open now. We welcome people from all walks of life who have an idea worth sharing. Experience of public speaking is not a requirement. What we are looking for is an idea worth spreading. Visit our Speakers page to apply.

All talks are filmed and published on the TED website and TEDx YouTube channel, making them permanently available to anyone in the world. A talk given in Liverpool can be watched in Lagos, London or Los Angeles. That reach is part of why TEDxHope Street matters.
